MIES to simplify information management

MIES Building Services is a leading Mechanical and Electrical contractor operating out of Nottingham and working on projects across the United Kingdom. MIES has experienced an incredible transformation over the last few years, which has seen it almost double in size. This reflects the success the business is experiencing as well as presenting new challenges.

Currently, MIES doesn’t have a system in place to manage emails or documents. The board at MIES were initially only looking for an email filing system to tackle the growing deluge of emails stored on staff’s workstations. However, other important documents are also held locally, which hindered information sharing and continuity between departments working on a project.

“We are reliant on people filing emails and keeping track of their own documents. There haven’t been any procedures in place to keep on top of this and we recognised this could have caused us problems as we continue to grow.” – Anton Dove, Estimating & Business Development Manager.

In light of the business’s rapid growth, the decision was made to implement Union Square to consolidate project information and unify the business. The objective for MIES was simple; they wanted everyone to be able to find the information they need, as fast as possible.

The implementation of Union Square will save the business time and money. By streamlining business processes there will be no duplication of data and automated procedures can be put in place, reducing the risk of human error and ensuring consistency with the documentation used. Anton discussed the benefits of having an effective platform to manage emails:

“Email filing will be a big benefit for us, having clear auditable trails for all our correspondence will be powerful. We will be able to track historic data from any project and this information can be accessed on site or in the office.”
